Lawmakers called for an inquiry into the plight of police officers dismissed for carrying out former President Duterte’s orders during the anti-drug campaign. Around 195 officers were dismissed, and 398 face dismissal, often struggling with legal and financial troubles. Duterte had promised to protect them but now faces criticism for perceived betrayal. The campaign officially claimed over 6,000 lives, with some groups alleging the toll is as high as 30,000. Concerns also rose over Duterte’s controversial bank accounts linked to suspicious transactions.
