Senator Panfilo Lacson officially took his oath of office on Thursday, signaling the start of his term in the 20th Congress, which begins on June 30.
Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo administered the oath at the Supreme Court in Manila.
Lacson, who placed 7th in the May senatorial elections, is a veteran public servant known for his leadership in the PNP and various government roles, including post-Yolanda rehabilitation.
Also sworn in was incoming Senator Camille Villar, who took her oath at her family’s residence in Las Piñas, administered by her mother, outgoing Senator Cynthia Villar.
Camille pledged to focus on legislation supporting women, children, agriculture, and infrastructure, and expressed gratitude for Vice President Sara Duterte’s endorsement.
