Marissa Duenas, human resources manager for the California branch of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KoJC), has entered a plea bargaining agreement with the U.S.
Attorney’s Office, agreeing to plead guilty to conspiracy charges for defrauding the U.S.
This deal, signed on October 8, allows for the dismissal of remaining charges against her, linked to a broader investigation into KoJC’s alleged labor trafficking activities involving church members.
The investigation focuses on KoJC leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, who is on the FBI’s most wanted list and faces multiple charges, including human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
Senator Risa Hontiveros expressed hope that Duenas would cooperate with ongoing investigations into Quiboloy’s alleged crimes, as the Senate prepares to resume hearings on the matter later this month.
