JOB LOSSES LOOM FOR 2,000 PINOYS AMID FAKE PRODUCT SCANDAL

House Deputy Majority Leader Erwin Tulfo warned that the ongoing sale of fake and substandard products from China online could result in the loss of at least 2,000 Filipino jobs.

Representatives from 15 appliance manufacturers, including brands like American Home and Fujidenzo, have reported significant business losses due to cheaper, illegal imports.

Tulfo plans to collaborate with fellow lawmakers to push for a congressional investigation into these “unfair online sales practices” to protect local industries.

He emphasized that if these practices continue unchecked, local manufacturers might be forced to shut down, leading to widespread job losses.

Tulfo also criticized government agencies for failing to regulate the entry of such products into the country.
