President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has appointed Joseph Francisco “Jeff” Ortega as the new chairperson of the National Youth Commission (NYC).
The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) announced the appointment, along with the selection of Karl Josef Legazpi as the second Commissioner-at-Large of the NYC.
Ortega, who has served as the Regional Director of the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 1 since 2019, is recognized for his background in tourism and youth advocacy.
The PCO highlighted Ortega’s qualifications and his role in advancing youth welfare and development.
