‘IS THAT WHAT MARCOS WANTS?’ DE LIMA CRITICIZES ICI OVER NO LIVESTREAM POLICY

Mamamayang Liberal Party-list Rep. Leila de Lima criticized the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) for refusing to livestream its hearings, questioning if this reflects President Marcos’ wishes.

De Lima emphasized that an independent body handling important investigations must be transparent to prevent suspicions of cover-ups.

She urged Marcos to push the ICI to livestream its hearings to address public concerns amid the suspension of the House Infrastructure Committee’s inquiry.

The ICI, however, has cited fears of political misuse and unverified information as reasons for not broadcasting the hearings.

De Lima also called for stronger powers for the ICI through House Bill No. 4453 and questioned the delay in its approval by the House leadership and the President.
