INC RALLY CRITICIZED AS SHIELD FOR VP SARA DUTERTE AMID CORRUPTION CLAIMS

The Iglesia ni Cristo’s (INC) “National Rally for Peace” on January 12 has been criticized as an attempt to deflect Vice President Sara Duterte’s accountability for corruption allegations, according to ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. France Castro.

She claims the rally is a distraction from serious issues, including Duterte’s alleged misuse of confidential funds and the declining quality of education during her tenure as Education Secretary.

Castro highlighted that the rally follows a Social Weather Stations survey showing 41% of Filipinos support Duterte’s impeachment.

Bayan Chairperson Teddy Casiño also argued that the rally seeks to protect Duterte and her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, from accountability for alleged crimes and corruption.

Several impeachment complaints against Duterte have been filed by progressive groups, religious organizations, and lawyers, while Congress investigates the alleged misuse of public funds.
