Detained former president Rodrigo Duterte will spend Christmas and New Year without family visits after the International Criminal Court barred holiday visitations, his daughter Veronica “Kitty” Duterte said.
Kitty, who arrived in The Hague on Dec. 19, said her father was disappointed upon learning of the restriction but remains strong.
She noted that detainees usually hold their own celebrations inside the detention facility during the holidays.
Kitty said their recent visit focused on family matters and updates about the Philippines, particularly Davao, and ended with a prayer.
Duterte is currently facing charges of crimes against humanity over his administration’s deadly war on drugs.
