Self-confessed drug lord Rolan “Kerwin” Espinosa testified before a House hearing that former Philippine National Police chief Sen. Ronald “Bato” de la Rosa coerced him into implicating former senator Leila de Lima as a drug supplier and protector.
Espinosa stated that de la Rosa pressured him upon his return from Abu Dhabi, where he was arrested for illegal possession of firearms.
He claimed de la Rosa instructed him to connect Peter Lim, a businessman named in President Duterte’s “narco-list,” to the illegal drug trade.
Espinosa also revealed that PNP lawyer Enrico Rigor urged him to add more names to his sworn statement, emphasizing the lack of proper validation for individuals on the narco-list.
He appealed to de la Rosa to avoid fabricating stories to target political rivals and called for more thorough validation of reports to prevent innocent people from being harmed.
