House Speaker Martin Romualdez hailed the turnover of new housing units for survivors of Super Typhoon Yolanda as a symbol of “new hope and fresh beginnings.”
During a ceremony with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Romualdez emphasized the collaborative effort behind the National Housing Authority’s Yolanda Permanent Housing Program, which completed 3,517 units, with 1,963 already occupied.
The homes, ranging from 22 to 28.6 square meters with 40-square-meter lots, aim to restore dignity and provide a path to recovery for affected families.
The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to security and stability for typhoon survivors.
Yolanda, which devastated the Visayas in 2013, remains the most powerful tropical cyclone to make landfall, claiming over 6,000 lives.
