The House prosecution panel said there is no evidence supporting claims of a plot to kill Vice President Sara Duterte, including the alleged “Operation Romanov” cited by her defense.
Lawyer Benjamin Tolosa Jr. said testimony from a National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) witness showed the alleged operation referred to a supposed threat against the Marcos family, not Duterte.
The prosecution also said Duterte and her allies failed to provide information to the NBI to support the claim.
House trial spokesperson Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong described the alleged plot as a “manufactured scenario” due to the lack of evidence presented.
The issue is being raised in connection with Duterte’s impeachment case over her controversial remarks involving threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and others.
