HOUSE PANEL CLEARS TWO IMPEACHMENT COMPLAINTS VS VP SARA DUTERTE

The House Committee on Justice has cleared two of the four impeachment complaints filed against Vice President Sara Duterte, declaring them sufficient in form.

The committee set aside the first complaint from the Makabayan bloc for violating the one-year bar on filing, while civil society group Tindig Pilipinas formally withdrew its second complaint to support the third.

All complaints allege betrayal of public trust, bribery, and misuse of P612 million in confidential funds, with the fourth complaint also accusing Duterte of plotting to harm President Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and former Speaker Martin Romualdez.

Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III assured that the process will respect due process and focus on institutional accountability rather than personalities.

The remaining complaints will next undergo evaluation for sufficiency in substance as the House upholds a constitutional and transparent impeachment process.
