The House of Representatives begins deliberations on the proposed P6.352-trillion national budget for 2025 today, with the House Committee on Appropriations starting with a briefing from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s economic team.
Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, Finance Secretary Ralph Recto, NEDA Director General Arsenio Balisacan, and BSP Governor Eli Remolona Jr. will present the macroeconomic assumptions underpinning the budget proposal.
Speaker Martin Romualdez emphasized the importance of ensuring economic growth benefits the population, particularly in job creation, income opportunities, and lower consumer prices.
The House aims to approve the General Appropriations Bill on third reading by late September, before transmitting it to the Senate.
The committee hearings will continue until September 9, covering various government agencies.
