President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed former Taguig councilor Michelle Anne Gonzales as the new chairperson of the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP).
Gonzales took her oath of office before Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin at Malacañang on Friday, following her appointment signed on July 18.
She replaces Meynardo Sabili, who stepped down in June, and previously served as a PCUP commissioner.
Gonzales has a background in local government and corporate roles, and she holds a Commerce degree in Accounting from De La Salle University.
The PCUP, under the Department of Social Welfare and Development, acts as a liaison between the urban poor and the government, helping shape policies and programs to support the sector.
