GILAS PILIPINAS HEADS TO DOHA FOR OLYMPIC QUALIFIERS

Gilas Pilipinas departed Manila on Thursday to participate in the 2nd International Friendly Basketball Championship in Doha, Qatar, scheduled for February 14-16, 2025.

The team underwent a brief two-day training camp at the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna, where coach Tim Cone worked on reacquainting the players with his system.

However, the team entered the camp with several injuries, including naturalized player Justin Brownlee, who played through a painful foot injury, and Dwight Ramos, who had a sprained ankle.

Despite these setbacks, Cone expects Ramos to be near full strength before the team’s first game in Doha.

Gilas will use these friendlies as preparation for the final window of the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers, with the team already securing a spot in the tournament set for August 2025.
