A group of 19 licensed online gaming operators in the Philippines has formed the PlaySafe Alliance of the Philippines to promote a safe and sustainable online gambling environment.
The alliance, launched on August 7 in Taguig City, aims to encourage responsible gaming, regulatory compliance, and consumer protection while combating illegal gambling, which makes up 70 percent of the market.
Spokesperson Mike Defensor emphasized that illegal gambling poses risks to the public, especially minors, and highlighted the importance of strict regulation and monitoring of legal operators.
The alliance plans to collaborate with the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation to enhance oversight, improve marketing practices, and strengthen age verification and self-exclusion programs.
It will also support nationwide education, prevention, and treatment initiatives, including a 24/7 National Gambling Helpline, to ensure a more secure and transparent online gambling industry in the country.
