Presidential Peace Adviser Carlito Galvez Jr. expressed strong optimism that a peace agreement with the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), its armed unit the New People’s Army (NPA), and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) could be reached during President Marcos’ term.
Galvez highlighted that exploratory talks are ongoing, with a mission statement from last November guiding the negotiations.
The government and NDFP have agreed to address the root causes of the insurgency through dialogue focused on socioeconomic and political issues.
The negotiation process involves creating a vision statement, a framework agreement, and a final peace agreement.
Galvez emphasized that President Marcos is committed to finalizing and implementing all agreements during his term.
