Disbarred lawyer Larry Gadon received P4.67 million in 2024 as President Marcos Jr.’s adviser on poverty alleviation, making him the third-highest-paid presidential adviser.
Gadon described his role as public service, saying the pay is modest compared to his private sector earnings, and explained that he provides policy advice and monthly written reports to the president.
Despite the government’s poverty efforts, Gadon emphasized that some poor individuals must “help themselves” by gaining skills and working hard.
He also noted that his proposed projects on education and health have yet to be implemented by government agencies.
Gadon’s appointment sparked controversy due to his lack of social welfare experience and his disbarment for misogynistic remarks shortly after joining the administration.
