A former commissioner of the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) has called for a thorough investigation into the termination of the national ID contract, arguing that it undermines government modernization efforts and erodes public trust.
Nicasio A. Conti, now CEO of Capstone-Intel Corp, criticized the project delays and failures, suggesting they may indicate deeper issues beyond administrative inefficiency.
He emphasized the need for stringent oversight and accountability in managing contracts that impact millions of Filipinos.
Last month, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas terminated its contract with AllCard Inc., the national ID supplier, citing non-compliance.
However, AllCard Inc. has challenged this decision, asserting it fulfilled all contractual obligations and alleging the termination was based on inaccurate information.
