Self-confessed drug lord Kerwin Espinosa testified on Friday that former President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the 2016 killing of his father, Rolando Espinosa, during the government’s war on drugs.
Espinosa cited Duterte’s public threats against individuals on the so-called narco-list as the basis for his belief that the former president was behind his father’s death.
The late mayor was killed in November 2016 inside his jail cell after surrendering to police amid drug allegations.
In addition, Espinosa accused former PNP chief Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa of pressuring him to confess to drug involvement and implicate others, including former senator Leila De Lima. |
He stated that Dela Rosa claimed the instructions came from higher authorities, indicating Duterte’s knowledge and approval of the situation.
