Senate President Francis Escudero announced that Charter change will not be a priority during the Senate’s third regular session due to its divisive nature.
Instead, Escudero plans to focus on bills within the common executive and legislative agenda that address pressing needs without causing unnecessary political conflict.
He emphasized that Charter change will follow the regular legislative process if considered at all. Escudero also vowed a productive session, prioritizing the quality of legislation over quantity.
Additionally, the bloc of former Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri will stay in the majority and seek a quarter of committee memberships, remaining independent from the Senate minority.
