EDUCATION DEPARTMENT RELEASES OVERTIME PAY STANDARDS FOR TEACHERS

The Department of Education (DepEd) released new guidelines on overtime pay for teachers as part of the 2025 National Teachers’ Month celebration.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara said the move aligns with President Marcos’ directive to ensure fair compensation for teachers working overtime.

The guidelines provide clear procedures for claiming overtime pay and aim to reduce teachers’ administrative burdens, allowing them to focus more on classroom teaching.

DepEd also plans to hire administrative officers for public schools to support teachers and principals with paperwork by the end of 2026.

Additionally, the department allocated P114.39 billion for personnel services in 2026 and has fast-tracked the processing of the P7,000 medical allowance, offering teachers flexible health benefits.
