The Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) in San Jose de Buenavista has simplified the process for barangay-based businesses to apply for licenses, now requiring only three steps: registration, assessment and payment, and permit issuance.
Between January 2 and 16, the BPLO processed 1,550 business applications, including 49 new ones, primarily from small, local businesses like sari-sari stores and junk shops.
Business owners with annual gross sales of P30,000 now obtain a mayor’s permit directly, replacing the previous requirement for only a barangay clearance.
The municipal hall offers a one-stop shop where government agencies collaborate to streamline the application process.
Additionally, the town has become the pilot site for the Bureau of Fire Protection’s online application for fire safety inspection certificates, further simplifying the requirements for business permits.
