DUTERTE’S TRUST AND PERFORMANCE SCORES FALL AFTER IMPEACHMENT TRIAL BEGINS

Vice President Sara Duterte’s performance and trust ratings declined significantly in the latest OCTA Research survey conducted from July 4 to 11, marking the first poll since the start of her impeachment trial on July 6.

Her performance rating fell from 50 percent to 45 percent, while her trust rating dropped from 55 percent to 47 percent, with OCTA noting these as among her lowest ratings since taking office in 2022.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. also recorded lower ratings compared to March, but he maintained higher performance and trust scores than Duterte, with 47 percent and 49 percent, respectively.

OCTA said the timing of Duterte’s impeachment trial and the accompanying media coverage appeared to be the most direct explanation for the sharp decline in her public ratings.

Malacañang, meanwhile, said the survey reflects public perception that the Vice President has focused more on criticizing the government than contributing solutions to national issues.
