Vice President Sara Duterte skipped President Marcos’ third State of the Nation Address to pay respects to the late Bohol vice governor Dionisio Victor Balite.
Duterte’s office stated she would not watch the SONA broadcast and is in Bohol to support the local community.
Despite some lawmakers interpreting her earlier “designated survivor” remark as a threat, Duterte affirmed her relationship with Marcos remains positive.
Other notable absentees from the SONA included former President Rodrigo Duterte and several senators.
Meanwhile, Speaker Martin Romualdez opened the third regular session of the 19th Congress, highlighting legislative achievements.
