DPWH ADVANCES THREE KEY BRIDGE PROJECTS IN TAWI-TAWI

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is nearing completion of three major bridge projects in Tawi-Tawi to enhance connectivity and support peace and development in the Bangsamoro region.

The Nalil-Sikkiat Bridge 1, now 96% complete, is set to open by July 2025 and will link Bongao Island to Sanga-Sanga Island.

Meanwhile, the Malassa-Lupa Pila Bridge 3 is 72% finished, connecting Sanga-Sanga Island to mainland Tawi-Tawi, and the Tongsinah-Paniongan Bridge 2 has begun early construction phases.

These infrastructure projects are part of the Asian Development Bank-assisted Improving Growth Corridors in Mindanao Road Sector Project and aim to boost local industries like fishing and seaweed farming.

DPWH officials see these bridges as key to unlocking Mindanao’s economic potential and fostering inclusive growth.
