The iconic Love Bus, first launched during the Martial Law era, has been revived as a free ride program in Cebu City and Davao City, announced by the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said the revival fulfills President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s promise to improve the service and expand it nationwide, starting with Visayas and Mindanao.
The program aims to ease commuting struggles by offering free rides during peak hours, benefiting thousands of workers and students who previously paid up to ₱60 daily for transport.
In Cebu, 11 Love Buses operated by 44 drivers serve the Talisay-Anjo-Cebu City route, accommodating over 2,600 commuters daily.
The DOTr will partner with bus and modern public utility vehicle operators to sustain and expand the Love Bus initiative.
