DOLE DEPLOYS TUPAD WORKERS FOR WATERWAY CLEANUP IN METRO MANILA

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has deployed hundreds of TUPAD beneficiaries to clear waterways in Metro Manila and nearby areas as part of efforts to mitigate flooding.

Workers were assigned to clean creeks in Pasig, Malabon, and Taguig, as well as waterways leading to Laguna de Bay, removing water lilies, grass, and waste.

The initiative is part of the “Bayanihan sa Estero: Malinis na Estero, Pamayanan Protektado” program launched in August.

Led by the MMDA with support from government agencies, LGUs, private groups, and NGOs, the program targets 23 priority esteros for cleanup.

These areas were identified due to heavy siltation, poor water flow, and recurring floods.
