The Department of Health (DOH) has imposed a 60-day price freeze on 148 essential medicines in areas declared under a state of calamity due to recent tropical storms.
This measure prevents pharmacies from increasing prices on drugs such as antibiotics, antihypertensives, and vitamins, with violations subject to penalties enforced by the FDA and DTI.
The DOH also warned the public against using doxycycline without a doctor’s prescription to prevent antibiotic resistance.
Meanwhile, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) reported stable prices and sufficient supply of basic goods in affected areas, with strict monitoring to prevent profiteering.
Additionally, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) rolled out a one-month moratorium on housing loan payments and activated a calamity loan program to aid disaster victims.
