The Department of Energy confirmed 14,022 MW of committed power projects to reinforce the grid, with 65% from renewable energy (RE). Solar and wind dominate the RE share, contributing 5,976 MW and 2,125 MW, respectively. DOE anticipates energy demand growth of 6% annually, with a threefold increase by 2050. Intermittency challenges highlight the need for energy storage systems and complementary sources. If delivered on schedule, these projects could power up to 14 million homes and advance the target of 35% RE in the energy mix by 2030.
