The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) reported that at least 500 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are expected to return from Lebanon amid the government’s repatriation efforts due to the ongoing conflict in the region.
Of these, 254 have already booked flights, with the next batch of repatriates arriving in the next three to four days, according to DMW Secretary Hans Cacdac.
The OFWs have secured exit clearances from Lebanese authorities, and 178 are currently staying in a government shelter in Lebanon.
Since the repatriation efforts began, 460 OFWs and 28 dependents have returned to the Philippines.
Returning OFWs will receive P150,000 in financial aid, along with medical and other assistance.
