DIZON TARGETS COMPLETION OF EDSA REHABILITATION BY NEXT YEAR

Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon expressed confidence that the EDSA Rehabilitation Initiative will be completed by next year, with modern construction methods helping speed up the project.

During a surprise inspection, Dizon announced the start of Phase 2, which includes newly paved asphalt roads, wider sidewalks, and larger drainage inlets to improve traffic flow and reduce flooding.

He said the rehabilitated stretch from Guadalupe in Makati to Boni Avenue in Mandaluyong was set to reopen to motorists on Monday, while Phase 2 will extend from Orense in Makati to Monumento in Caloocan.

Sidewalks will be expanded to 3.2 meters to safely accommodate pedestrians and cyclists, while drainage systems will be upgraded to better manage heavy rainfall.

The project forms part of the government’s long-term effort to modernize Metro Manila’s transport infrastructure and improve connectivity.
