Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon inspected Batangas International Port on April 10 to ensure readiness for the expected Holy Week travel surge, following President Marcos Jr.’s directive for safe and efficient public transport nationwide.
Dizon emphasized the port’s significance as Luzon’s largest maritime hub, with a capacity of over 8,000 passengers and improved facilities catering to seniors and persons with disabilities.
He praised the strong collaboration between the private sector and maritime authorities, which has led to more streamlined operations.
A joint directive was recently signed to prevent vessel overloading, with strict enforcement and penalties for violators to ensure passenger safety.
Dizon also highlighted the upcoming rollout of an e-ticketing system to enhance passenger convenience and reduce the need for physical queuing.
