DFA OPERATIONS INTERRUPTED BY BOMB THREAT

Employees at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in Pasay City were evacuated yesterday following a bomb threat received via email at around 6:30 a.m. The threat was sent to Philippine consulates in Sydney, Ontario, and Hong Kong from two email addresses.

DFA’s executive director promptly shared the threat, leading to precautionary measures instructed by DFA intelligence unit chief Raymund Toledo.

A thorough sweep by the Special Weapons and Tactics team and the Philippine Coast Guard’s K9 Unit found no bomb.

The incident caused disruptions to DFA consular services, and an internal investigation is ongoing to trace the source of the threat and review security procedures.
