Funds in gaming apps linked to the Maya Wallet can only be withdrawn and transferred to the wallet until 8 p.m. on Saturday, following a directive from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).
This move aims to promote a safer and more responsible financial system by removing access to gaming sites through digital payment platforms.
After the deadline, customers must withdraw remaining funds directly through the gaming providers’ websites or apps.
Maya assured users that it will continue to protect customers and maintain uninterrupted financial services while complying with regulations.
The BSP has ordered all e-wallet providers to unlink their platforms from online gaming sites within 48 hours as part of wider government efforts to address the negative impacts of gambling.
