DE LIMA PONDERS CHARGES AGAINST DELA ROSA OVER DRUG CASE

Former senator Leila de Lima is contemplating legal action against Senator Ronald Dela Rosa, accusing him of pressuring a drug lord to falsely implicate her in the illegal drug trade, which led to her wrongful detention for several years.

In a recent television interview, de Lima revealed that she is consulting with her lawyers and cited the testimony of confessed drug lord Kerwin Espinosa, who testified that Dela Rosa advised him to accuse de Lima during a House committee hearing.

De Lima, who spent much of her term detained, believes Espinosa’s testimony vindicates her and claims the original accusations were coerced and scripted.

Meanwhile, Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel III supports a Senate investigation into the Duterte administration’s controversial drug war, particularly following revelations from retired police colonel Royina Garma about a reward system for drug war killings.

Senator Bong Go, however, dismissed Garma’s claims as “malicious,” advocating for a fair investigation into the allegations against the former president’s anti-drug operations.
