DBM COMMITS P1 BILLION FOR GREEN OPEN SPACES ACROSS 80 LGUS

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) will allocate P1 billion to support the Green, Green, Green Program in around 80 local government units (LGUs) nationwide.

This initiative aims to develop green open spaces such as parks, plazas, and mobility projects like bicycle lanes and pedestrian footpaths.

DBM Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman highlighted that this funding will help mitigate climate change impacts such as extreme heat, pollution, and flooding while enhancing community health and quality of life.

Projects must adhere to resilient and inclusive design standards, including provisions for persons with disabilities.

The program encourages the use of locally sourced materials to bolster the domestic economy.
