The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has lifted its suspension on the proclamation of Jeryll Harold Respicio as vice mayor-elect of Reyna Mercedes, Isabela.
The Comelec First Division ruled that services must not be delayed while the case against Respicio, involving alleged election misinformation, remains unresolved.
Respicio is accused of violating cybercrime laws for posting videos claiming he could manipulate election results via a “backroom program.”
The Municipal Board of Canvassers has been ordered to reconvene within five days to proclaim him officially.
Meanwhile, Respicio has petitioned the Supreme Court to void the earlier Comelec suspension, which he called arbitrary, and 18 other candidates remain under similar suspension orders pending disqualification cases.
