The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has released the guidelines for filing the certificate of candidacy (CoC) for the May 2025 national and local elections.
Positions available include 12 senators, 254 district representatives, and various local officials, totaling thousands of positions nationwide.
Candidates must submit their CoC along with a Certificate of Acceptance of Nomination, while party-list groups are required to present a minimum of 10 nominees.
The filing period is set from October 1 to October 8, 2024, with specific rules regarding substitution of candidates only permitted under certain conditions, such as death or disqualification.
Incorrectly filed CoCs will be considered “not filed,” and no substitutions will be allowed for independent candidates.
