The Commission on Elections (Comelec) plans to resume printing official ballots for the May 12 midterm elections by January 22, following a temporary suspension.
Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said changes to the election management system (EMS), automated counting machines, and canvassing system are necessary before printing can proceed.
The Comelec will also collaborate with international certification body Pro V&V for a new trusted build process to ensure ballot integrity.
The suspension, triggered by five Supreme Court temporary restraining orders, has led to the destruction of six million already-printed ballots.
These ballots are now being transferred to a warehouse in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, for proper disposal.
