China’s Lieutenant General He Lei warned that the People’s Liberation Army would “crush” any foreign incursion into its sovereign territory, including the South China Sea.
Speaking at the Xiangshan forum, He emphasized that while China hopes the South China Sea remains peaceful, it will not tolerate any hostile encroachment by foreign powers.
He specifically cited potential U.S. involvement, asserting that any U.S. actions or support for other nations in the region would face resolute Chinese resistance.
The warning comes amid recent tensions between Beijing and Washington over China’s assertive policies in disputed maritime areas.
Lei stated that the resolution of these tensions largely depends on U.S. actions.
