CHINESE GOVERNMENT CAUTIONS STUDENTS ABOUT RISKS IN THE PHILIPPINES

China’s Ministry of Education has issued a warning to Chinese students about alleged safety risks in the Philippines, citing unstable public security and incidents involving crimes targeting Chinese nationals.

The advisory, shared by the Chinese embassy in Manila, urges students to reassess plans to study in the Philippines and to strengthen personal safety measures.

This is the second such alert for 2025, following previous concerns about law enforcement harassment and rising protests in the country, as reported by the Global Times.

Malacañang dismissed the warning, with a Palace official stating that the Philippines is safer under the current administration, noting lower crime rates and improvements in the Global Peace Index ranking.

The government also emphasized its commitment to protecting all individuals in the country, regardless of nationality.
