FPJ Panday Bayanihan Party-list Rep. Brian Poe has filed the Expanded National Feeding Program Act to address childhood and adolescent undernutrition in the Philippines.
The bill seeks to strengthen the existing Masustansyang Pagkain Para sa Batang Pilipino Act by extending feeding programs to include secondary school students, especially those from low-income and rural areas.
Poe emphasized that proper nutrition is essential to improving students’ health, reducing absenteeism, and enhancing academic performance.
He cited a World Bank report showing that childhood undernutrition cost the country $4.4 billion in 2015, highlighting the economic impact of the issue.
Poe called on stakeholders to support the measure to build a healthier and more educated generation for the nation’s future.
