CELEBRATING DURIAN: SHOWCASING THE KING OF FRUITS’ PROMISE

The 11th Durian Festival kicked off at SM Lanang in Davao City on August 12, celebrating the cultural and economic importance of durian in the region.

Government officials, industry leaders, and international partners, including China, highlighted the fruit’s growing export market, with China accounting for 99.7% of Davao’s durian exports. 

The Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Agriculture reaffirmed their support for farmers through programs aimed at product development, market expansion, and improving supply chains.

The festival also coincides with the Kadayawan celebration, emphasizing durian’s role in Davaoeño identity and community pride.

Running until September 14, the event offers fresh durian, activities, and opportunities to strengthen both local and international durian markets.
