Palace press officer Undersecretary Claire Castro submitted her courtesy resignation following a directive from the new Presidential Communications Office (PCO) head, Acting Secretary Dave Gomez, who asked all political appointees to do so.
Castro said the resignation allows Gomez to select his preferred team but emphasized she was not removed or asked to tone down her daily briefings.
Until Gomez decides on the resignation, Castro will continue her duties as PCO undersecretary.
Appointed in February, Castro has been a prominent and sometimes controversial spokesperson for the Marcos administration.
Despite mixed reactions to her blunt responses, Castro reaffirmed her commitment to delivering truthful information to the public.
