Religious leaders in Mindanao are advocating for the re-inclusion of Sulu province into the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) to promote inclusivity and unity.
The Mindanao Religious Leaders Conference (MiRLeC) emphasized the importance of safeguarding the achievements made under the Bangsamoro peace process.
They also urged political leaders to ensure peaceful and orderly regional parliamentary elections set for May 2025, calling for sobriety and respectful engagement during campaigns.
The leaders gathered in Davao City on October 8-9, where they pledged support for the Marcos administration’s peace agenda and highlighted the need for interfaith collaboration to strengthen social cohesion.
MiRLeC, which includes representatives from various religious and indigenous groups, underscored that joint efforts among Muslims, Christians, and indigenous peoples are vital for lasting peace and development in Mindanao.
