The Court of Appeals (CA) dismissed Katherine Cassandra Li Ong’s petition challenging her indictment for qualified human trafficking linked to a POGO hub in Central Luzon.
The CA ruled the petition premature since Ong failed to file a motion for reconsideration with the Department of Justice (DOJ) before appealing.
The court rejected Ong’s claim that her due process rights were violated, stating that public remarks by officials did not amount to prejudgment.
The CA emphasized that Ong’s belief that reconsideration and appeal would be futile was speculative and dismissed the petition outright.
Ong, along with former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque and others, faces human trafficking charges related to the Lucky South 99 Corp. POGO raid in Pampanga.
