The Philippine Coast Guard’s flagship vessel, BRP Teresa Magbanua, arrived in Kagoshima, Japan, on June 12 to join the second trilateral maritime exercise with the United States Coast Guard and Japan Coast Guard.
The arrival coincided with the 127th celebration of Philippine Independence Day and was marked by a warm welcome from Japanese coast guard officials.
The joint exercise, set from June 16 to 20, includes a major search and rescue drill near Kinko Bay, along with communication, maneuvering, and law enforcement exercises.
These activities aim to boost coordination, interoperability, and collective maritime response capabilities among the three nations.
The initiative supports President Marcos Jr.’s directive to enhance regional maritime cooperation and uphold a rules-based international maritime order.
