BOHOL GEARS UP AS CENTRAL VISAYAS’ NEW TALENT POOL

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is targeting Bohol as a new hub for skilled workers in Central Visayas under the Trabaho Para sa Bayan Act.

Lilia Estillore, DOLE-7’s regional director, highlighted Bohol’s role in creating 3 million jobs mandated by the Act, focusing on upskilling and reskilling initiatives to enhance employability and competitiveness among Filipino workers.

At a recent congress in Anda, Bohol, Estillore emphasized the importance of technical-vocational training and support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to boost industry capabilities.

Discussions also explored Bohol’s potential in the shipbuilding and repair industry, acknowledging concerns about environmental impacts on the island’s renowned beaches.
