The Sandiganbayan has acquitted former Vice President Jejomar Binay and his son, former Makati Mayor Junjun Binay, of graft and falsification charges related to the P1.3-billion Makati Science High School construction.
In a ruling on December 13, 2024, the anti-graft court’s Special Fifth Division granted the Binays’ demurrers evidence, stating the prosecution failed to prove the charges.
The Binays, along with other co-defendants, were cleared of violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act and falsification of public documents.
The case stemmed from alleged irregularities in awarding contracts for the school building’s design and construction during their terms as mayor.
Despite the accusations of illegal procurement, the court found insufficient evidence to convict the defendants.
